Meet Hoa
My Portland roots run deep. I moved here when I was 15 years old from Louisiana with a scholarship to St. Mary’s Academy. Even that young, I knew that education was a path out of poverty. I built a life grounded in the values of resilience and community. After earning my degree in Sociology from Portland State University, I dedicated myself to public education, where I’ve been a relentless advocate for students and families.
My journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s shaped who I am today. As a child, I experienced firsthand the challenges many Oregonians face—working in my parents’ business from an early age and learning the importance of hard work and determination. These experiences fueled my passion for ensuring that every Oregonian has the opportunity to thrive.
I’m proud of the work I’ve done as a State Representative for House District 48. From securing millions in housing investments to protecting workers’ rights, I’ve fought to make our community stronger, safer, and more equitable.
Whether it’s through passing bipartisan legislation to address the housing crisis or advocating for fully funded public schools, my focus has always been on delivering real results for our district.
My heart belongs to East Portland, where I also sit as a member of the David Douglas School board. Every decision I make is guided by the desire to create a better future for all of our families.
I’m running for re-election because there’s still much work to do. I’m committed to continuing the fight for affordable housing, lowering the cost of living, and ensuring that every community in Oregon is safe and prosperous. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
If you believe in a brighter future for Oregon, I hope you’ll re-elect me.
