Accomplishments

In my first term in Salem, my goal was to ensure that everyone in our community has the resources they need to thrive, fostering a more equitable and compassionate district. Hopefully, these investments will have a profound impact on the lives of individuals and families in
HD 48. 

By funding behavioral health centers and affordable housing, we’re ensuring that people in crisis have access to the care and support they need, preserving their dignity and improving their quality of life. Expanding recovery housing for youth and LGBTQ+ individuals, along with mentoring programs, will provide essential resources that empower people to overcome challenges and thrive. Re-establishing the Childcare Alliance and addressing absenteeism ensures that families have the support they need for their children’s future success. These initiatives are about more than just funding—they’re about building a community where everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to live with dignity and hope.

    • $4 million to Clackamas County to construct a behavioral health stabilization and short-term care center to connect people in crisis to housing and mental health resources.

    • $3 million to Unite Oregon for the construction of a culturally specific affordable housing complex in East Portland

    • $1.4 million to 4D Recovery to expand recovery housing programs to serve youth and LGBTQ+ individuals.

    • $1 Million for Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (Multnomah County) to build a mentorship program that connects at-risk youths to education, career training, and culturally specific services

    • I re-established the legislative Childcare Alliance, which brings together business leaders, labor organizations, families, and community organizations across Oregon to increase access to affordable childcare.

    • I’m focusing my energy on Oregon’s chronic absenteeism crisis by co-chairing a workgroup with Senator Suzanne Weber (R-Tillamook), to bring together educators, district officials, education experts, and families who are focused on making Oregon a top state for school attendance

    • I supported the Oregon Drug Intervention Plan, which expands local treatment options and strengthens our mental health workforce. It also targets dangerous drugs like fentanyl and funds recovery centers, including $1 million for the Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center’s (POIC) peer-to-peer mentoring program in our district.

    • I supported fully funding the state’s Audits Division to ensure that state agencies are using taxpayer dollars efficiently.

    • I voted in favor of placing limits on campaign finance contributions in Oregon that keep our elections accountable, transparent, and equal.  

    • I supported the education board transparency act that requires school districts to make video recordings of their meetings publicly available.
